Dear Pastors and supporting friends:
It is hard to believe how the summer is going by so swiftly. In May we were privileged to have Christy Ingram as our Ladies’ Retreat speaker, and there were many good comments about her presentation.
During July Caleb Reed preached at both Junior and Teen Camp, with many decisions being made during those two weeks. The Lord blessed us with a great staff of dedicated young people this year, and they definitely had a great impact on the young people.
The Men’s Retreat is scheduled for Sept. 13-14. Our special speaker will be Pastor Philip Bishop from Lighthouse Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA. We are praying for a time of revival and renewal.
This year we engaged in what appeared to be ambitious plans to upgrade our facilities. Thanks to the generosity of some and the hard work of others, we completed the oak flooring in the main auditorium before the Ladies’ Retreat. The Lord blessed, and we were able to replace the girls’ cabins with larger buildings and even put in electric lights.
We are one cabin shy of paying for new cabins for the boys’ area. They are to start bringing the buildings this week.
One last project is putting in an air conditioner in the main auditorium. Plans are to have that done and ready before the Men’s Retreat.
As you can see, we have had a busy summer, and we are greatly indebted to those who gave of their finances and their labors to make these projects possible. All of this took place while I was going through chemo treatments for lymphoma. I thank the Lord that I have been able to tolerate the treatments very well.
